Non-Resident Open Enrollment
Open Enrollment is only for students living outside of the Elkhorn Area School District. Residents of Elkhorn should complete a New Student Enrollment application.
Open Enrollment allows families to apply for their student(s) to attend school districts other than the one in which they live. The Regular Open Enrollment application window for 2024-25 is February 5 - April 30, 2024. Outside of this window, families can apply for Alternative Open Enrollment.
Open Enrollment is a one-time application and does not need to be submitted each year.
Alternative Open Enrollment
Families wishing to open enroll outside of the regular application period can complete an Alternative Open Enrollment Application, after July 1 for the current school year. The Alternative Open Enrollment Application will be made available on this webpage.
Step 2 - Complete New Student Enrollment
After submitting your Open Enrollment or Alternative Open Enrollment application, you must complete an Elkhorn Area School District New Student Online Enrollment Application.
Good to Know
There is no tuition cost to families when they open enroll, however, you will be charged the same student fees as a resident student, i.e., consumable fees, extracurricular fees. Open enrolled families are responsible for their own transportation to and from school. Exceptions exist for students attending daycare in Elkhorn with a regularly scheduled bus stop at or near the location.
Who needs to complete an Open Enrollment application?
Students living outside of the Elkhorn Area School District.
Students currently attending EASD via Tuition Waiver for the current school year
Students who have changed residency to a non-Elkhorn address, between September and April
Students planning to move to an address outside of EASD and wishing to stay at an EASD school.
Do you want your student to start NOW? Fill out an Alternative Open Enrollment application to start school in the current 2023-24 school year.
Do you want your student to start NEXT Year? Fill out an Open Enrollment application to start school in the 2024-25 school year (September 3, 2024).
